What else can we do?

Making our ten commitments is an important first step but there is a lot more you can do - to reduce your organisation’s carbon footprint and to campaign for real action by government and business to save out planet.

Every Action Counts is a national initiative offering advice and support to voluntary and community organisations wanting to tackle climate change and improve their local area.

The Energy Saving Trust promotes the sustainable and efficient use of energy and has lots of ideas to help you do this.

If you have an office you can get advice and information on maximising energy savings in an office environment and with office equipment from the Carbon Trust.

You can get advice on recycling from Magpie, donate to Emmaus, have unwanted items collected by Hove YMCA, and give and get no longer needed items from The Freecycle Network or Furniture Now. You can get local advice on improving your environmental performance from Ecosys, an independent not-for-profit environmental consultancy. Or try changing the world "one lazy-assed mouse click at a time" with The Nag.

There are lots of local groups campaigning against climate change that you can get in touch with including

* Brighton Peace and Environment Centre, which promotes enviromental action
* Brighton Climate Change, a local group campaigning to reduce climate change
* Transition Brighton and Hove, a group of volunteers aiming to start a city-wide community response to the challenges of climate change and peak oil.
